Scientists believe that there is a hot spot underneath the plate covered by a layer of granite. When the volcano erupts there is an explosion. The layer of granite goes flying everywhere making it into a caldera. A caldera is a large dented-in portion of the land, like a crater.
The Yellowstone Caldera Volcano is 2,805 meters. It is believed to be a hot spot. It sits on top of a chamber of molten rock underground as close as only 5 miles to the surface. Yellowstone is known for its Gases, geysers, and grizzlies. This makes it arguably one of the largest active volcanoes in the world.
Some spots fuels thousands of spewing geysers. Hissing steam vents make Yellowstone such popular tourist attraction with 3 million summer visitors.
Most people say that Yellowstone is a super volcano. A super volcano is the most destructive volcano and only a few exist in the world. When they erupt, they do so with a force that the human species have not seen yet it is so much more powerful than any other eruptions. They are capable of destroying, or completely changing the world continents.
